How to use the Answer Base?

Waves Answer Base contains Q&As on various issues; here you can find 'known issues' relating to our products, different audio hosts, and operation systems, as well as work-arounds and other suggestions.

Waves Answer Base contains two search engines: Filter Boxes and Free Text search.

  • Filter Boxes let you narrow down the results to your Platform, Audio Host, Waves Products, and the subject of your interest. Choosing Operation as the subject will list most Q&As.

  • Free Text searches both the questions and answers, and is not case sensitive.
The engine searches full or partial phrases. For instance, to get results for Pro Tools, you only need to type Tools. It is even recommended to use partial phrases when possible, to maximize the results of your search. For example, Waves spells Pro Tools as two separate words without a dash in between. If you type in Pro-Tools or Protools, you will not get results.

You may use the Filter Boxes, or the Free Text, or both together. Keep in mind that when using both engines, your results will be determined by your filter selection AND the phrases typed in the Free Text Search field. If you get less results than expected or no results, check the Free Text Search field to make sure there are no 'leftovers' from an earlier search, and check that the Filter Boxes are correctly set to your specifications.

To prioritize your search results we have divided them into four categories:

  • Total Match displays results that exactly apply to your filter selection and text search.

  • Product Related Match displays results relating to your Waves Product filter selection, but not necessarily to your Audio Host or Platform selections.

  • Host Related Match displays results relating to your Audio Host filter selection, but not necessarily to your Waves Product or Platform selections.

  • Other Results displays results that are close to your search criteria, but do not fit into the other three categories.
